Neural Radiance Fields exploration

Published: at 07:21 AM

I’ve lately been exploring a new kind of 3D capture technique. One where you don’t capture polygons, but actual understanding of light and reflection. (Notice the light reflecting off the leaves)

It’s called a Neural Radiance Field or a NeRF. It’s still a bit fiddly to work with and hard to use in practice, but I’m 100% sure this is the future of hyper realistic 3D. This technique takes us one step closer to capturing the essence of objects, not just the surface.
