A book about the world of code, written right before it all changes.

I’m finally taking time to fully in-depth read what I believe will be an epoch-defining book! It’s been a deep dive into a world in the shadows I’ve long wanted to understand my own place in - a world which, with AI, will surely experience a boom as human-machine relations start to blur.

Picture of the book "Live Coding, A user's manual" taken indoor with a window with snowy trees outside.

The book is called “Live Coding, A user’s manual” and it might surprise you that it’s less about code than a philosophical reflection of time and creation. There’s practically no actual code in it! 😉 If you’re longing for modern thoughts on the human brain and how we interface with technology through performance, this is absolutely worth picking up.

A Unique Snapshot Before Everything Changed

Interestingly, this book was written riiiight before AI and LLM’s own underground creative communities blossomed. With future eyes, it’s going to provide a unique look at human-machine relations right before the moment everything changed. I wouldn’t be surprised if the book and the live coding community will transcend into a second order with a new generation of live coders, requiring a natural second edition of the book.

And yes, do people look weirdly at me when I bring out this bad boy at the spa house? Absolutely. Does it cleanse my soul and open my mind? 💯💆‍♂️ (Writing this as I’m enjoying vacation in the Yasuragi Spa house in Stockholm. Major recommendation!)
